Saturday's Web Chat

March 4 was another enjoyable web chat with Anne and the kids (Yani too).  Although we had a session the day before, I opted to have another one to find out the reaction of the kids upon receivin the box with a lot of goodies.  As expected, the kids loved it.

I admit I kinda spoil the kids from a distance.  But I can't help it cause the kids deserve it...after all, Gina is so lovable, very friendly and would never fail to regale us with her songs and poems or anything she has learned from school.

Migs, on the other hand, is a very smart, intelligent boy.  He is  consistently on top of his class, he was chosen to be their school's represenative  in three  categories (math, science and speed reading) in contests sponsored by the Dept. of Education  to compete with other schools. I am amazed at how fast he can encode (type) when we IM, occasionally during web chats.  And his choice of words are really "big" for his age.  It really helps as both Gina and Migs speak good English.  They are more comforable in English than in our native tongue, (Tagalog).  This is a stategy that I also kept when their mother, Anne, and Jade (my other daughter( were young.  They never had a problem keeping up with the teachings in school cause they understood English.   A strategy that Anne also kept for her own kids.

What made the session especially interesting was that Rick sat with me throughout the web cam session.  Migs. being a boy,  is not particularly shy with Rick, but Gina seems to clam up when she sees Rick is around altho she would greet Rick with hello" Yoyo (meaning Lolo or grand father in our language)  But this Saturday, she warmed up..sang to him, and answered Rick's kiddie questions.  Oh how Rick loves to hear Gina call him "Yoyo"..but of course Migs, being older calls him Lolo.  Migs and Rick share an interest in cars...so they jibed on this matter.  I enjoyed listening to their banter...and now both kids are very comfortable iwth Rick.

Oopps..its 7:41...gotta go to work!

Till later!

  1. Yes, I think it was good that Rick was able to talk to the kids to their level. He should be like that more often to them, so that they will be more comfortable with him around.

Be careful though, not to label Gina as your favorite, okay, Ma. In church, we parents are always being reminded never to put any form of favoritism in our children, because it only makes one better than the other. It is, according to teachings, like a "vow, or a curse"--that one of them will definitely be better over the other, and of course, you and I don't like that.

Just remember, that each one of them has his or her own strengths, okay. So duon tayo mag-focus. You may want to discuss that with Lolo Rick too, so that Migs will not have any negative thoughts about Gina also, and vice versa, as we go along relating with each other...

Kahit ako ay minsan nagkakaroon ng tendency to favor one over the other, but I pray hard to overcome it. Para di masira ang pagtitinginan nilang magkapatid, lalo in the future. Hope you would understand my "preaching", and just enjoy more wcam sessions with them.

Rick did a good job of playing along with Gina's antics. With Migs naman, kahit naman nuon pa ay tipo nito at nag -e-enjoy sa more intelligent talk, and would perhaps like to discuss computer games, or science with Rick.

    Til next time!!! :o)
