Candied Apple Fritters

Description:
Running out of desserts to serve? This will delight both young and old alike---You certainly can't serve apples when one person can't eat the whole fruit---but this dessert can make a lot of servings with just 4-5 apples!

Ingredients:
4 apples
6 tbsp. sugar
1 cup veg. oil
2 tbsps. water
1 tsp sesame seeds (linga)

Batter:
1 large egg
4 tbsps. cornstarch
5 tbsp. flour (all purpose)
5 tbsps. water

Directions:
-Beat the egg in a bowl---then add cornstarch, flour and cold
water to make the batter.
-Peel, core and cut apples into small cubes, and coat with the
batter.
-Deep fry in tol oil until golden brown for about 1 minute
-Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a frying pan, add sugar and water and
stir for a while over very low heat, until liquid thickens and
separates into strands (ala syrupy)
-Turn heat off, and add the apples, mix QUICKLY and sprinkle
sesame seeds all over.
- Brush your serving plate with little oil (or spray butter) to rpevent the apples
from sticking into your plate.

Serve immediately

  1. Tita Litz! Yesterday my daughter Myka and I treated my friend Chette visiting from Vancouver to lunch. I brought them to Thai Phong Vietnamese/Thai food. They served a buchi (without the sesame seeds surrounding the fritters) looking dessert but with a different twist. It had cubed cavendish (chiquita banana) banana in the center of the buchi looking fritters. They served it with honey on the side. Myka,Chette and I kept analyzing how the batter is done....but no more after reading this recipe you sent. I will switch banana in place of apple. But I have a feeling they added glutious rice flour in the batter. Tita, please kitchen test this for us and post it in your Mulltiply site....pleeezzzee. Please pretty please, ayan pumayag na...mwha thank you. They served this hot from the frying pan with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in bowl.

  2. Really? Oh sure---I can try it this weekend and see how it tastes and looks like.
Bananas though must be a little firm because if too ripe---tends to be mushy...so I will get the variety that is substituted for our regular saba--called plantains.
I will let you know how it went---immediately pronto! Once I do them, I will post them like you requested.
    Thanks!

  3. Tita, they didn't use saba they used lakatan... your table banana will do so don't go out of your way to buy plantain. Thanks.
