Who Are You?

I received this article from a friend at work.  I liked the message and so I am sharing it with my contacts.

"A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again..

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up, She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl . Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, ' Tell me what you see.'

'Carrots, eggs, and coffee,' she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, 'What does it mean, mother?'

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

'Which are you?' she asked her daughter . 'When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes a long their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

May we all be COFFEE!!!!!

I Thank You, God!

I find this prayer so fitting for a day like today, Thanksgiving Day.

I thank You, God, for life and health, and love I have today.

For this great land of freedom, and the privilege to pray

I thank You for my home, and for my daily bread

I thank you for the bible, from which my soul is fed.

I thank You for the gift of life, thru Jesus Christ, Your Son

The loving sacrifice He made, was made for everyone.

Help me accept the gifts You gave, May my voice your praises sing

And may I with true thanksgiving, seek Your will in everything.

Just for Laughs!

A friend of mine sent me this funny writeup and I am sharing it with all of my contacts since it is probably something many can relate with, and is replete with very "tech-oriented" language.

Hope you get a good laugh!!!!

INSTALLING A HUSBAND ...

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a
distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the
flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under
Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable
programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 and then
installed undesirable programs such as NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs
4.1.  Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply
crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these
problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,
Desperate.

DEAR DESPERATE,

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while
Husband 1.0 is an operating system.  Please enter command:
ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget
to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed,
Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0
and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse
of the above application can cause husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy
Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6.1 is a
very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in
the background that will eventually seize control of all your system
resources.) Also do not attempt to reinstall Boyfriend 5.0 program.
These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited
memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider
buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We
recommend Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck,
Tech Support

Did you enjoy?

Give Them the Flowers Now!

I happened  to listen to this poem being read over the radio many, many, many moons ago while I was doing some kitchen chores in our house in Manila. I liked it so much but failed to catch who the author was!  Well, inspite of the passing of years,I still  remembered the catchy line "So Give Them the Flowers Now"...of this  beautiful poem.  Well, being on the net this morning of  Dec. 31st, I searched for this poem continuously ... tried many many times but failed....and finally after several searches,  I found it!  So, here I am sharing this with my contacts...a lovely poem written by Leigh M. Hodges.  I hope you will like it as much as I do...for it conveys  such a beautiful message.

Please click on the link and read on dear contacts,  hear the music that is part of this poem--the ever lasting  melody of "I'll be Loving You Always!
